How is TaKaDu Different?

Today, water utilities use ad-hoc and incomplete solutions to curb Non-Revenue-Water. While great progress has been made with the Water Loss Task Force, the IWA and the DMA (district metered area) approaches, TaKaDu's focus on innovation is leveraging the power of analytics and algorithms for addressing a thorny problem with spiky and noisy water consumption and flow data.

Some of today's approaches are:

  • Using acoustic surveys with a sonic approach
  • Relying on customer calls to report leaks and bursts
  • IWA water balance estimates to estimate unaccounted for water
  • Constant analysis with dedicated personnel
  • Monitoring of limited night-line readings

While commonly used, the above approaches are not enough for taking full control over network anomalies, leaks and bursts.

TaKaDu's Technology

TaKaDu’s patent-pending solution uses multiple anchors for data analytics: complex periodic patterns, cross-site correlation, graph structure, event behavior over time and space, pressure-flow relations and several other statistical anchors.

TaKaDu's technical innovation encompasses significant advances in algorithmic Anomaly Detection, and an unprecedented fusion of multiple data sources. Because of the network’s complexity, and the lack of comprehensive data, TaKaDu relies on a set of statistical models of network patterns and routines. The solution analyses flow and pressure data, the digital map of network assets (GIS), water quality indicators, and other data sources to provide a view of problem-spots, such as new leaks or faulty equipment. A powerful user interface serves as “eyes and ears” into the network.

TaKaDu is unique in several aspects:

·         Using a statistical approach

·         Leveraging existing data

·         Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering

·         Low cost service without CAPEX or physical changes

Adding smart data analysis to traditional water distribution is a ’must happen’ evolutionary step (similar to IT and Telecom networks).

Water Infrastructure Monitoring helps utilities ensure that water flows continuously and smoothly to consumers. Timely warning and analysis of network anomalies means that the utility's operational staff can react before a visible and costly failure develops, energy is wasted or quality degrades. It cuts the guesswork out of their job and gives them a simple procedure to follow.

Water Infrastructure Monitoring

The punchline is that TaKaDu can take sparse and spiky data from existing sensors and fold that in with weather data, acoustic data, and GIS data to enable the smart water grid"

TaKaDu's mission is to offer utilities Water Infrastructure Monitoring so they can reduce Non-Revenue Water, both real losses and apparent losses, and better manage their network. TaKaDu’s unmatched Software-as-a-Service solution requires no physical network changes or capital expenditures. The solution, based on patent-pending mathematical and statistical algorithms, uses existing network data (flow, pressure, quality, etc.). TaKaDu's solution also tracks water quality metrics, such as chlorine and turbidity levels.  TaKaDu's solution is fully operational with utilities and partners in Europe, Australia, Latin America, Israel and the US.
