Discovering the Power of Network Data Webinar: A SWAN Forum Webinar with TaKaDu, i2O and Derceto

Join i2O Water, TaKaDu and Derceto in a Free Smart Water Networks (SWAN) Forum Webinar: Discovering the Power of Water Network Data.

Water networks depend on accurate water distribution data for efficient operation and monitoring. Utilities collect data from sensors, meters and valves, but this data is often sparse, spiky or inaccurate.

i2O Water, TaKaDu and Derceto will show how real-world utilities use existing data to create the foundations for a Smart Water Networks and analyze the benefits of this approach.

Water utilities collect diverse data from their distribution networks. Flow, pressure, temperature, quality, acoustic data and other parameters are often measured and transmitted over to central repositories.

But is the process of collecting, transmitting, processing and presenting the data optimal? Can utilities manage their networks in a more efficient way if they reliably gather more accurate data on time? If they do so, can they form the foundation of a Smart Water Network that will give them better control and insight into the network?

In this free webinar, led by i2O Water, TaKaDu and Derceto, we will discuss and demonstrate the role data plays in efficient network management and control, focusing on four key challenges:

- Data availability and accessibility
- Data collection and transmission frequency
- Data accuracy and precision
- Data analysis and presentation

Andrew Burrows, CTO of i2O Water, and Simon Bunn, CTO of Derceto, will address these and other common challenges and discuss real case-studies on improved network management using accurate real-time data. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
Moderator: Guy Horowitz, TaKaDu, Chairman of the SWAN Forum.

Smart Water Networks: Integrated Metering, Leak Detection and Network Management Solutions

“Smart Water Networks” - are gaining momentum as utilities and governments are dealing with increased population demands for high quality water. It’s not limited to meter reading, but can include leak detection systems and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. The integration of metering and monitoring creates a much stronger value proposition and is peaking interests in the water market.

This webinar brings together leaders from different segments of the water industry – investor, corporate, technology developer, and utility – to delve into the issues surrounding this exciting niche of the water market: Why is there so much interest in this area now? The water market has been slow to adopt advanced metering technology compared to the energy market. But there are solutions that incorporate not just automated meter reading, but other services. Is it the combination that makes this attractive? Or is it a combination of other factors such as water pricing and water scarcity?

What is the investment landscape?

Recent venture capital investments, acquisitions and exits in this space will be presented, such as the recent acquisition of Echologics by Mueller Water Products, to characterize this market segment and what the future holds.

 What is the technology landscape?

Companies such as Derceto, TaKaDu, and Water Smart are making their own way into this market along with many others. Looking at existing companies operating in this space we can gain insight as to what key technology features are needed to make a successful entry into this market.

What is the utility (end user) perspective?

Ultimately, the utility and/or government is the gate keeper in this market – deciding which technologies will be implemented. So it’s important to understand what the utilities’ priorities are – be it energy savings, billing, metering, leak detection, or a combination of all these areas.

What is the corporate perspective?

IBM has been leading the way in the smart water network market and will provide its view on smart water meters as well as an overview of the Malta project.

There will also be a discussion of research needs, new applications and commercial opportunities, concluding with a Q&A session to address specific questions from participants.
