Israel-based TaKaDu, a Software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution company that provides water utilities with water infrastructure monitoring, has closed a new financing round led by Emerald Technology Ventures. Existing investors Giza Venture Capital and Gemini Israel Funds also participated in the financing round.
TaKaDu’s service detects, alerts and provides real time insights on leaks, bursts and water network ineffeciencies. The solution is based on complex statistical algorithms which correlate and analyze data from existing meters and sensors within the network. Utilities using TaKaDu report that the service is easy to deploy as it requires no changes to the network, no additional devices and no capital expenditure, resulting in immediate benefits and quick return on investment. The company, founded in early 2009, already serves leading utilities worldwide. TaKaDu is a World Economic Forum 2011 Technology Pioneer.
"This financing is a vote of confidence in TaKaDu’s unique approach and value”, said Amir Peleg, Founder and CEO of TaKaDu. “Emerald brings to the table much more than growth capital. It is a leader in water technology, environmental and cleantech financing with unequaled experience and success. We look forward to a fruitful partnership.” Peleg added, “We see tremendous market response to our offering, and this financing will allow us to increase our global footprint and cement our leadership”.
“TaKaDu is led by a sucessful serial entrepreneur and a strong team comprised of world-class mathematicians and computer scientists,” said Gina Domanig, Managing Partner at Emerald Technology Ventures. “The company’s SaaS busines model makes them very capital efficient and reduces the sales cycle significantly which is a typical challange for products and services aimed at water utilities.”
Following this financing, Gina Domanig of Emerald Technology Ventures has joined TakaDu’s Board of Directors.
